Like the Ballon d'Or, Football Career Sim has an award for the world's best player each year. In the game it is called World Player of the Year. Season points determine the world ranking, but points alone cannot secure first place: a major achievement that season is also required.

Qualifying for the ranking

Only seasons with at least 22 first-team appearances qualify. The score considers ratings, attributes, position-specific attacking contributions or clean sheets, league level, trophies, individual awards and Player of the Month awards. The Champions Cup has the largest trophy bonus, followed by the league title and Player of the Year.

First place requires an achievement

Even if you top the vote, you finish second unless you meet one of the following three conditions that season. The app tells you which requirement was missing.

Major title Win the Champions Cup or an international tournament with your national team that year.
League triple crown Win the league, league Player of the Year and the position award: top scorer for strikers, top scorer or assist leader for wingers, assist leader for midfielders, and Defender of the Year for defenders.
Monster season An overwhelming statistical season even without a title.

Goalkeepers are different: all four of the Champions Cup, league title, national-team title and Clean Sheet Leader must be won in the same season. A monster season cannot qualify. Read more in goalkeeper career.

League level sets the ceiling

The world watches the biggest leagues. Only a season in a level 4 or higher league can reach first place.

In a level 3 league the best possible rank is 31st without a Champions Cup or national-team title, and fourth with one. In lower leagues you cannot rank without a major title, and the ceiling is 11th even with one.

How to aim for World Player of the Year

Move to a big league. First place is blocked below level 4, however well you play. The transfer market opens in summer after the season.

Join a club in the Champions Cup. Winning it meets the first-place requirement and gives the largest award bonus.

Target a national-team title. International tournaments occur in even years; years divisible by four host the world tournament. A national-team title alone meets the condition that season.

Play consistently each month. Player of the Month awards also count toward your season score.
